Huawei managed to break the bipolar model of domination in the smartphone market a few months ago, making it ahead of Apple sales. The Chinese manufacturer retained its lead by the end of last year, demonstrating that their good results are not accidental. Huawei thus completed the calendar year, making for the first time more than 200 million sales, that illustrates how influential the company is.
While we expect the official results of Strategy Analytics and IDC for the first three months of 2019, we understand that Huawei has once again recorded impressive worldwide deliveries. The latest data from the South China Morning Post reveals that for the period between January and March, the company managed to sell no less than 59 million Android devices. This represents an impressive 50% growth compared to the results recorded in the first quarter of 2018, which is a pretty solid achievement.
Analysts expect Apple sales to be less than those recorded during the same period at the beginning of last year when the company reported 52 million deliveries. In this way, Huawei will not only continue to be more popular than iPhone makers, but even expand their lead in second place in the global smartphone market. If the company continues at the same rate, it will not be surprising if it sells over 250 million units in 2019.
